Julia Vering, MSW, LCSW, LSCSW, EMDR Certified Therapist, Registered Expressive Arts Therapist
Are you an adult who is feeling stuck? You know what you “should” be doing, but don’t know why you haven’t been able to yet?
Do you have unhealed emotional wounds that are impacting you negatively today?
Have you been told to use mindfulness techniques to ease symptoms, but have found sitting meditation impossible?
Have you found talk therapy has given you insight, but you are ready to do deeper, embodied work for lasting healing?
Are you grieving the loss of a person, relationship or identity?
………………………………………………….
As an integrative, trauma-focused therapist with 17 years of post-masters experience, I use experiential approaches collaboratively with clients to fit their interests and strengths.
Expressive arts, EMDR and other experiential approaches help uncover subconscious motivations and feelings, aid in emotional regulation, externalize issues and emotions, and restore the capacity for joy.
I have cultivated a deep sense of listening through working with individual clients, hospice patients, their children and families, and the bereaved.
I believe in the ability of art, music, writing, storytelling, movement, and drama to enhance healing when integrated with compassionate talk therapy.
I completed training through Center for Creative Arts Therapy, and became the first REAT (Registered Expressive Arts Therapist) in Kansas and the KC metro area in 2023. I graduated from the University of Kansas with a Masters in Social Work in 2008. I became an EMDR Certified Therapist in 2024.
When I am not seeing clients in my office, I facilitate fun movie-based expressive arts groups in nursing facilities and provide expressive arts services for hospice patients for Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
I hope to collaborate with you in your journey of healing.
